17.25 子曰：“唯女子与小人为难养也，近之则不孙，远之则怨。”
【译文】
孔子说：“只有女子与小人是最难养的，与他们亲近了，他们就会不逊从；与他们疏远了，他们就会怨恨。”

孔子说：“只有女子与小人是最难相处的，与他们亲近了，他们就会恃宠而骄，傲慢无礼；与他们疏远了，他们就会心生怨恨。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “Only women and mean persons are the most difficult to get along with. When you are close to them, they will be arrogant and impolite due to being spoiled. When you alienate them, they will bear resentment.”
