4.11 子曰：“君子怀德，小人怀土；君子怀刑，小人怀惠。”
【译文】
孔子说：“君子心怀道德，小人心怀乡土；君子心怀法度，小人心怀恩惠。”

孔子说：“君子在乎的是德性的增进 ，小人在乎的是财产的增加；君子心怀法度的运行，小人在乎的利己的小惠。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “The noble person cares about the improvement of virtue, whereas the mean person cares about the increase of property. The noble person concerns about the operation of laws and rules, while the mean person only concerns about what benefits himself.”
