孔子出使邻国，手中握着圭，恭敬谨慎，好像举不起来的样子。他举圭向上如同作揖，执圭向下如同授物与人。脸色庄重好像战战兢兢，脚步细密好像沿着线在前行。 在呈献礼物的仪式上，他容光焕发。 在私人会见时，他和颜悦色。

【English Translation】
When Confucius was on a mission to a neighboring State, holding the scepter, he leaned his body slightly like bowing, as if the scepter was too heavy to be lifted up.
When he climbed the steps, his body was slightly bent like making a bow, and when he went down the steps, his body was slightly straight as if handing something to someone. He was concentrated and cautious, and his footsteps were fine and close as if following a line.
In the ceremony of presenting the gift, his countenance was relaxed.
In private meetings, he returned to his gentle and pleasant countenance as usual.
