15.32 子曰：“君子谋道不谋食。耕也，馁在其中矣；学也，禄在其中矣。君子忧道不忧贫。”

孔子说：“君子谋求道而不谋求衣食。耕田，却常会有饥饿；学习，则常能得到俸禄。君子忧虑的是不能求得道，不是忧虑贫困。”

孔子说：“君子志于道而不志于衣食。为了谋食而耕田，却常会有饥饿；为求道而学习的人，则常能得到俸禄。君子忧虑的是不能求得道，不是忧虑贫困。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “A noble person aims at the Way rather than at food and clothing. Those who farm land only for a living often suffer from hunger. Those who study for the sake of the Way often get the official position with good salary. A noble person worries about not being able to achieve the Way, not about poverty.”
