17.18 子曰：“恶紫之夺朱也1，恶郑声之乱雅乐也2，恶利口之覆邦家者。”
【译文】
孔子说：“我厌恶以紫色取代了朱色，厌恶郑国的音乐扰乱了典雅的正音，厌恶巧嘴利舌而颠覆了国家。”

孔子说：“我厌恶以紫色（间色）取代了朱色（正色），厌恶郑国的音乐扰乱了典雅的正音，厌恶巧嘴利舌混淆直言正理，进而颠覆国家的。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “I detest using purple (intermediate color) to replace vermilion (principal color), and detest that the music of Zheng disrupts the elegant and proper tones, and also detest the glib talk confounding the straightforward and righteous principles, thereby subverting the State.”
