17.11 子曰：“礼云礼云，玉帛云乎哉？乐云乐云，钟鼓云乎哉？”
【译文】
孔子说：“礼呀礼呀，难道仅指玉帛等礼器而言吗？乐呀乐呀，难道仅指钟鼓等乐器而言吗？”

孔子说：“礼呀礼呀，难道仅指玉器、丝帛等礼器而言吗？礼的本质是心中的恭敬。乐呀乐呀，难道仅指钟鼓等乐器而言吗？乐的本质是心中的和谐、欢喜。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “Ritual, ritual, does it only refer to ritual vessels such as jade and silk? The essence of rituals is the reverence in the heart. Music, music, does it only refer to musical instruments such as bells and drums? The essence of music is the harmony and joy in the heart.”
