8.3 曾子有疾，召门弟子曰：“启予足1！启予手！《诗》云：‘战战兢兢，如临深渊，如履薄冰2。’而今而后，吾知免夫！小子！”

曾子病了，他把自己的学生召集到身边，对他们说：“看看我的脚！看看我的手！《诗经》说：‘小心谨慎啊，好像身临深渊旁，好像行走薄冰上。’从今以后，我知道自己是可以免于刑戮毁伤了！学生们！”
