8.9 子曰：“民可使由之，不可使知之。”

孔子说：“对于百姓，可以使他们遵照道理去做，不可使他们知道为什么这样做。”

Confucius said: “As for the civilians, you can make them follow the principles, but you can not make them know why they do so.”
