9.8 子曰：“吾有知乎哉？无知也。有鄙夫问于我，空空如也。我叩其两端而竭焉1。”
【译文】
孔子说：“我有知识吗？没有啊。有一个浅陋的人来向我提问，我对他的问题一无所知。我就从问题的本末终始这样两端向他询问，直至把问题全部搞清楚。”
【YZG解释】
孔子说：“我有智慧吗？没有啊。有一个平凡的人来向我提问，我要空心对待，不能自以为是。我只是从问题的本末、终始、正反两端向他询问探究，答案自然就会出来了。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “Do I have wisdom? No, I don’t. When an ordinary person comes to ask me a question, I should treat it with an open mind and not be self-righteous. I just inquire and explore from both ends of the beginning and the end, fundamental and the incidental, positive and negative of the question, and then the answer will naturally come out.”
