16.7 孔子曰：“君子有三戒：少之时，血气未定，戒之在色；及其壮也，血气方刚，戒之在斗；及其老也，血气既衰，戒之在得。”

孔子说：“君子有三种情况应该警戒：年轻的时候，血气尚未宁定，要警戒的是迷恋女色；到了壮年，血气正当旺盛，要警戒的是争强好斗；到了老年，血气衰弱，要警戒的是贪得无厌。”

孔子说：“君子有三种情况应该戒慎：少年时，血气尚未宁定，心智不成熟，要戒慎于迷恋女色；到了壮年，血气正当旺盛，要戒慎于争强好斗；到了老年，血气衰弱，要戒慎于贪得无厌。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “A noble person should be cautious in three situations. In youth, when his vigour is not yet stable and the mind is not mature, he should be cautious about being indulged in female charm. In middle age, when being vigorous and high-spirited, he should be cautious about being aggressive. In old age, when being weak in vitality and energy, he should be cautious about being greedy and never satisfied.”
