4.18 子曰：“事父母几谏1，见志不从，又敬不违，劳而不怨2。”

孔子说：“事奉父母，若父母有过错应委婉地劝阻，看到自己的意思不被听从，仍然恭恭敬敬而不冒犯他们，只是内心忧愁，但不怨恨。”

【English Translation】
Confucius said: “When taking care of parents, if the parents have faults, the children should advise them occasionally in a gentle way. If the advices are not accepted, the children should still remain respectful without offending the parents, just feeling worried but not resentful.”
