17.13 子曰：“乡原1，德之贼也。”

孔子说：“貌似忠厚而没有是非的人，是道德的败坏者。”

孔子说：“貌似忠厚而没有是非、同流合污以媚于世的人，欺世盗名的行为则会混淆道德的标准，败坏社会道德水准。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “As for the people who appear honest and kind but have no sense of right and wrong, and go along with the wicked people to cater to the society, their actions of deceiving the world will confuse the standards of morality and also corrupt the morality of society.”
