17.14 子曰：“道听而涂说，德之弃也。”
【译文】
孔子说：“在路上听到传言就四处传播，这是道德所摒弃的。”

孔子说：“听到有益的话，不求身体力行、知行合一，而为虚荣很快就说给别人听，这是背离道德的。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “It is against morality when one hears beneficial words, but instead of practicing them and integrating knowledge with action, he tells them to others for vanity.”
