3.19 定公问1：“君使臣，臣事君，如之何？”孔子对曰：“君使臣以礼，臣事君以忠。”

鲁定公问：“君主使用臣子，臣子事奉君主，应该怎么做？”孔子答道：“君主按照礼节使用臣子，臣子忠心耿耿事奉君主。”

鲁定公问：“君主使唤臣子，臣子事奉君主，应该怎么做？”孔子答道：“君主按照礼节领导臣子，臣子自然就能忠心耿耿事奉君主。”
【English Translation】
Duke Ding of Lu2 asked Confucius: “How should the rulers order the courtiers, and how should the courtiers serve the rulers?” Confucius said: “If the rulers guide the courtiers based on the Rites, the courtiers will naturally be loyal to the rulers.”
