7.12 子曰：“富而可求也，虽执鞭之士1，吾亦为之。如不可求，从吾所好。”
【译文】
孔子说：“财富如果可以求得，虽是执鞭贱职，我也愿意做。如果不可求得，还是做我喜欢的事情。”

孔子说：“财富如果是可合于道德仁义求得的，虽是执鞭在马车前吆喝开路的低贱工作，我也愿意做。如果不是，我会选择做合于道德仁义的事情。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “If wealth can be obtained in accordance with morality and righteousness, even if it is a humble work of holding a whip in frond of a carriage with shout to clear the way, I am willing to do it. If not, I will choose to do the things that conform to morality and righteousness.”
