13.17 子夏为莒父宰1，问政。子曰：“无欲速，无见小利。欲速则不达，见小利则大事不成。”
【译文】
子夏任莒父邑宰，问孔子怎样治理政事。孔子说：“不要图快，不要顾小利。一味图快反而不能达到目的，顾及小利则不能成就大事。”

【English Translation】
When Zi Xia was appointed as the minister of Ju Fu county, he asked Confucius how to govern the political affairs. Confucius said: “Don’t be eager for quick success, and don’t be infatuated with petty gains. Being too eager for quick success will not achieve your goal, and finally spoil your entire effort. Petty gains cannot achieve great things.
