述而篇 7.1

7.1　子曰：“述而不作¹，信而好古，窃比于我老彭²。”

【译文】

孔子说：“只阐述典籍而不进行创作，相信且爱好古代文化，我私下把自己比作老彭。”

孔子说：“只传述典籍而不进行创作，相信古人，且爱好古代文化，我私下把自己比作老彭。”

【English Translation】

Confucius said: “I would only recount classics to others without creating them. I believe in the ancients, and love the ancient culture. In private, I compare myself to Lao Peng¹.”
