19.9 子夏曰：“君子有三变：望之俨然，即之也温，听其言也厉。”

子夏说：“君子有三个变化的形象：远远望去庄重威严，与他接近温和可亲，听他说话义正辞严。”

【English Translation】
Zi Xia1 said: “A noble person has three changing images: When seen from afar, he appears solemn and dignified, and is inaccessible. When approached, he is gentle and amiable. When he speaks, his words are precise and powerful.”
