雍也篇 6.6

6.6　子谓仲弓，曰：“犁牛之子骍且角¹，虽欲勿用²，山川其舍诸？”

【译文】

孔子谈及仲弓，说：“耕牛所生的小牛有赤色的皮毛和端正的两角，即使人们不想把它用于祭祀，但山川之神难道会舍弃它吗？”

【English Translation】

Speaking of Zhong Gong¹, Confucius said: “The calf born by a farm cattle has red fur and two regular horns. Even if people do not want to use it for sacrifice, will the God of mountains and rivers abandon it?²”

1. 犁牛：耕牛。骍（xīnɡ）：赤色。周朝尚赤，用作祭品的牲畜也要赤色。角：谓牛角长得周正。这也是选择牲畜作为祭品的条件。 ↩ ↩²

2. 虽欲勿用：古代祭祀不用耕牛作为祭品，因此认为耕牛之子也不可用作祭品。用，即用以祭祀。 ↩ ↩²
