6.19 子曰：“人之生也直，罔之生也幸而免1。”

孔子说：“人能生存于世上是由于正直，而不正直的人也能生存，那只是侥幸地避免了祸害。”

孔子说：“人能生存于世上是由于依循本性的直道而行，而邪曲、蒙蔽的人也能生存，那只是侥幸地避免了祸害。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “People can survive in the world because they follow the righteous way of their nature. And those who are wicked can also survive, but that is only by chance avoiding disasters.”
