雍也篇 6.14

6.14　子游为武城宰¹。子曰：“女得人焉尔乎？”曰：“有澹台灭明者²，行不由径³，非公事，未尝至于偃之室也。”

【译文】

子游任武城邑宰。孔子说：“你在那里得到什么人才吗？”子游说：“有一个叫澹台灭明的人，他走路不穿小道捷径，如不是公事，从不到我屋里来。”

【English Translation】

Zi You¹ served as the county magistrate of Wu Cheng². Confucius said: “Have you found any talented person in the county?” Zi You said: “There is a man named Tan Tai Mie Ming³, who does not take improper ways in dealing with matters. He never comes to my house unless it is for official business.”
