4.15 子曰：“参乎！吾道一以贯之。”曾子曰：“唯。”子出，门人问曰：“何谓也？”曾子曰：“夫子之道，忠恕而已矣1。”
【译文】
孔子说：“参啊！我的学说贯穿着一个基本原则。”曾子说：“是的。” 孔子出去后，其他学生问道：“这是什么意思呢？”曾子说：“老师的学说，就是忠恕二字呀。”

孔子说：“曾参啊！我的学说以人我不分、内外无别的行为贯穿始终。”曾子说：“是的。” 孔子出去后，其他学生问道：“这是什么意思呢？”曾子说：“老师的学说，就是忠（尽己之心）和恕（想到别人之心）的仁心呀。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “Zeng Shen2! My doctrines are consistently based on one principle.” Zeng Zi (Zeng Shen) replied: “Yes.”
When Confucius left, the other students asked: “What does this mean?” Zeng Zi said: “The teacher’s theories are the benevolence which includes faithfulness to self and forgiveness to others.”
