7.28 子曰：“盖有不知而作之者，我无是也。多闻，择其善者而从之；多见而识之；知之次也1。”
【译文】
孔子说：“大概有一种无知却凭空造作的人吧，我没有这种毛病。多多地听，选取那好的便依从它；多多地看，把看到的记在心里。这样学得知识，仅次于那种生来就知的情况。”

孔子说：“有些人无知却冒然行事，我不是这样的。多多地听，选取值得自己学习的并效法；多多地看，并用心记忆和参悟。这样学习所得，仅次于那种生来就知的情况。”

【English Translation】
Confucius said: “Some people are ignorant and yet act rashly, but I am not like that. I would listen to others a lot and choose what is worthy of learning to follow. I would observe a lot, and remember and contemplate it by heart. Learning in this way is second only to the situation of those who know from birth.”
