8.19 子曰：“大哉尧之为君也！巍巍乎！唯天为大，唯尧则之1。荡荡乎！民无能名焉。巍巍乎其有成功也，焕乎其有文章2！”
【译文】
孔子说：“尧这样的君王多么伟大啊！多么崇高啊！只有天是最大的，只有尧能效法天。多么宽广啊！百姓不知该如何称颂他。他的功绩真壮伟啊，他的礼乐制度真辉煌啊！”

孔子说：“尧这样的君王多么伟大啊！多么崇高啊！只有天是最崇高伟大的，只有尧能效法天。像海水一样浩荡啊！百姓找不到合适的言辞来称颂他。他的功绩真壮伟啊，为中华民族开启了文化的传统！”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “What a great and lofty kind Yao1 is! Heaven is the most noble and great, and only Yao can follow the example of Heaven. His heart is as vast as the sea! The people cannot even find the suitable words to praise him. His achievements are really magnificent, and he has opened up the cultural tradition for the Chinese nation!”
