8.16 子曰：“狂而不直，侗而不愿1，悾悾而不信2，吾不知之矣。”
【译文】
孔子说：“狂妄而不直率，幼稚而不朴实，貌似诚恳而没有诚信，我真不能懂得这样的人。”

孔子说：“豪迈而不正直，无知而不忠厚，无能而不相信自己和他人，我真不直到这样的人会变成什么样子。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “If a person is bold but not upright, ignorant but not faithful, and incompetent but does not believe himself and others, I really don’t know what such a person will become.”
