14.38 子路宿于石门1。晨门曰2：“奚自？”子路曰：“自孔氏。”曰：“是知其不可而为之者与？”

子路在石门宿了一夜。 第二天早晨守门人问：“你从哪里来？” 子路说：“我从孔氏那儿来。” 守门人说：“是知道做不到却还要去做的那个人吗？”

【English Translation】
Zi Lu stayed overnight at the city gate of Lu.
In the next morning, the gatekeeper asked: “Where do you come from?”
Zi Lu said: “I come from Kong family.”
The gatekeeper said: “Is it the person who knows that he can’t achieve it but still tries hard to do it?”
