季氏篇 16.12

16.12　齐景公有马千驷，死之日，民无德而称焉。伯夷、叔齐饿于首阳之下¹，民到于今称之。其斯之谓与²？

齐景公有四千匹马，死了以后，百姓对于他的德行没有什么可称颂的。伯夷、叔齐饿死在首阳山之下，百姓到今天还称颂他们。大概就是这个道理吧？

【English Translation】

Although Duke Jing of Qi¹ had four thousand horses, after his death, there is nothing to be praised by the civilians about his virtue. Bo Yi and Shu Qi² starved to death under Shou Yang Mountain for the sake of righteousness, and until today, the civilians still praise their lofty virtue. That’s probably the truth³.
