9.24 子曰：“法语之言1，能无从乎？改之为贵。巽与之言2，能无说乎？绎之为贵3。说而不绎，从而不改，吾末如之何也已矣。”
【译文】
孔子说：“正言相告的话，能不听从吗？但听后改正错误才可贵。谦恭赞许的话，听了能不高兴吗？但听后要分析才可贵。高兴而不加分析，听从而不加改正，这种人我就对他没办法了。”

孔子说：“严正告诫的话，能不听从吗？但听从后改正错误才可贵。谦恭赞许的话，听了能不高兴吗？但听后要深度思考才可贵。高兴而不加思考， 听从而不加改正，这种人我就对他没办法了。”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “Can anyone not listen to the words of stern warning? But it is precious to correct the mistakes after listening. Would anyone not be happy to hear the words of humble praise? But it is precious to think deeply after hearing. If someone is happy without thinking, and listens without correcting, then I can do nothing for him.”
