19.24 叔孙武叔毁仲尼。子贡曰：“无以为也！仲尼不可毁也。他人之贤者，丘陵也，犹可逾也。仲尼，日月也，无得而逾焉。人虽欲自绝，其何伤于日月乎？多见其不知量也1。”
【译文】
叔孙武叔毁谤仲尼。子贡说：“不要这样做！仲尼是毁谤不了的。其他贤者好比是丘陵，还可以逾越。仲尼好比是日月，不可能逾越。即使有人自己要与日月决绝，那对日月又有什么损害呢？这只是显出他的不自量罢了。”

叔孙武叔毁谤仲尼。子贡说：“劝你不要说这样的话！仲尼是毁谤不了的。其他贤者好比是丘陵，还可以逾越。仲尼好比是日月，无法逾越。即使有人自己要与日月对立隔绝，那对日月又有什么损害呢？这只能显出他的不自量力而已。”
【English Translation】
Shu Sun Wu Shu1 slandered Confucius. Zi Gong2 said: “I advise you not to say such words! Confucius cannot be slandered. Other virtuous people are like hills which can be overstepped. Confucius is like the sun and the moon which cannot be overstepped. Even if someone wants to oppose and separate himself from the sun and the moon, what harm will it do to the sun and the moon? It can only show the overestimate of his abilities.”
