19.20 子贡曰：“纣之不善1，不如是之甚也。是以君子恶居下流2，天下之恶皆归焉。”
【译文】
子贡说：“纣王的不善，也不像如今传说的那样厉害。所以君子不肯居于下流之地，以致天下的恶名都归集到他身上。”

子贡说：“纣王的不善，也没有传说中的那样严重。所以君子憎恶被居于道德下风，以致天下的恶名都归到他身上。”
【English Translation】
Zi Gong1 said: “The evil deeds of King Zhou of Shang were not as serious as rumored. Therefore, a noble person detests being at a moral disadvantage which results in all the bad reputations in the world being attributed to him.”
