19.2 子张曰：“执德不弘，信道不笃，焉能为有？焉能为亡1？”
【译文】
子张说：“持守道德却不能光大，信仰大道却不忠诚，这种人怎能算他有？又怎能算他没有？”

子张说：“执守道德却不能弘扬道德以增进德行，信仰大道却不坚定，这种人怎么能说他有德和信？又怎么能说他没有德和信？”
【English Translation】
Zi Zhang1 said: “If a person adheres to virtue but fails to develop and expand it to improve his own virtue, and believes in the Way but is not firm. How can we say such a person has virtue and faith? And how can we say that he does not have virtue and faith?”
