19.1 子张曰：“士见危致命，见得思义，祭思敬，丧思哀，其可已矣。”
【译文】
子张说：“士人遇见危险能献出生命，见有所得能考虑是否合乎义，祭祀时想到恭敬，居丧时想到哀伤，那也就可以了。”

子张说：“士人在国家危难之时能够舍生取义，见有利益时能考虑是否合乎义，祭祀时心存恭敬，居丧时感到哀伤，这样就可以称其为士了。”
【English Translation】
Zi Zhang1 said: “Scholar is the person who can sacrifice his life for righteousness in times of national crisis, and consider whether it is in line with righteousness when seeing benefits, be reverent in sacrificial ceremony, and feel sorrow during mourning. Only in this way can this person be called a scholar.”
