15.26 子曰：“吾犹及史之阙文也1。有马者借人乘之2，今亡矣夫！”
【译文】
孔子说：“我还能够看到史书存疑的地方。有马的人自己不能驯制，就凭借别人的乘用使马驯服，这样的态度在今天是没有了呀！”

孔子说：“我还能够看到史书中学者有意留白的地方，让后人考证补充。就像马的主人自己不能驯制，就借给别人乘用使马驯服，这样谦虚谨慎的态度在今天是没有了呀！”
【English Translation】
Confucius said: “I can still see the places intentionally left blank by scholars in historical records, allowing later generations to verify and supplement. It is like the owner of a horse who cannot tame it by himself and lends the horse to others for riding to make the horse tame. Such a humble and cautious attitude does not exist today!”
