5.3　子谓子贱¹：“君子哉若人！鲁无君子者，斯焉取斯²？”

【译文】

孔子谈及子贱，说：“这人真是个君子啊！假如鲁国没有君子，他从哪里学得这样的品德呢？”

孔子谈及子贱，说：“君子就是像子贱这样的人啊！鲁国如果没有君子，他从哪里学得这样好的品德呢？”

【English Translation】

Speaking of Zi Jian¹, Confucius said: “A noble person is someone just like Zi Jian. If state of Lu does not have noble persons, where does Zi Jian learn such virtues?”
