5.11 子曰：“吾未见刚者。”或对曰：“申枨1。”子曰：“枨也欲，焉得刚？”
【译文】
孔子说：“我没有见到过刚强不屈的人。” 有人回答：“申枨是这样的人。” 孔子说：“申枨欲望太多，哪里能刚强不屈？”

【English Translation】
Confucius said: “I have never seen a strong-willed and unyielding person.” Some people responded: “Shen Cheng1 is this kind of person.” Confucius said: “Shen Cheng has too many desires. How can he be a strong-willed and unyielding?”
