10.27 色斯举矣1，翔而后集2。曰：“山梁雌雉3，时哉时哉！”子路共之4，三嗅而作5。

野鸡一见人的脸色不善就高高飞起，盘旋一阵然后停在树上。孔子说：“山梁上的这些野鸡，识时宜呀！识时宜呀！”子路对它们拱拱手，它们拍打着翅膀又飞走了。

鸟一见人的面容不善就立即飞去，盘旋一阵然后停在树上栖息。孔子说：“山梁上的这些鸟，它们也懂得时宜呀！懂得时宜呀！”子路对它们拱手，它们又拍打着翅膀飞走了。
【English Translation】
When the birds saw the unfriendly expression on people’s faces, they would immediately fly away, circle for a while and then perch on a tree. Confucius said: “Even these birds on the ridge of the mountain understand the right time!” Zi Lu made a gesture of greeting to them, and they flapped their wings again and flew away.
