2.18 子张学干禄1。子曰：“多闻阙疑2，慎言其余，则寡尤3；多见阙殆4，慎行其余，则寡悔。言寡尤，行寡悔，禄在其中矣。”
【译文】
子张请教如何求官得禄。孔子说：“多听别人说，自己保留有疑惑的问题，其余可确定的问题则谨慎表达，那样就能少有过失；多看别人行事，自己不做有疑惑的事情，其余可确定的事情则谨慎实行，那样就能少生后悔。言语少过失，行事少后悔，官禄就在其中了。”

子张请教求官得禄的办法，孔子表示：“多听别人所说的，对自己有疑惑的问题暂不做定论，对于能确定的问题则慎重表达，如此便能少犯错误；多留意别人的行为，自己不做有疑惑的行为，对于能确定的行为则谨慎施行，这样就能少留遗憾。言语少出过错，行为少留遗憾，官禄就在其中了。”

Zi Zhang5 asked Confucius about the way of seeking an official position, Confucius said: “You should listen to others and do not draw a conclusion about what you are uncertain, and you you may express cautiously about what you are sure of. In this way, you will make fewer mistakes. In addition, you should carefully observe others’ behaviors and do not handle things with doubt, and you may act prudently on what you are certain about. By doing so, you will have fewer to regret. With fewer mistakes in words and fewer to regret for actions, you may find the way to seeking an official position.”
